The Samburu medical camp was unlike any other camp before it. The building in the picture is the local church where we conducted the outreach. The roof is iron sheets while the walls consist of mud and sticks.
One of the greatest challenges of the outreach was reaching our location. Miraculously we only suffered one flat tire.
The local traffic consisted of equally yoked oxen.
The patients were surprised we would bless them with a free medical camp. In the past the government has sent medical personnel to give free medical care; however, the local village elders demanded to be paid. The team felt they had no other option but to charge the local people so that they could pay the village elders (corruption is so sad). We refused to bribe the village elders and people were seen for free.
Neema enjoyed her first mission trip. She adapted well to the local culture, a natural missionary.
Then there were more vehicle problems....
Unlike previous camps, majority of the patients wanted counsel after seeing the doctors.
This outreached we introduced a women's health station. Dama educated the women and introduced washable sanitary. The majority of women in rural settings do not have access or can't afford sanitary pads.
My highlight of the trip was visiting and sharing the gospel with my friends father. He is 84 years old and had never heard the gospel before.
